Current information from our company
ROVEMA takes over inno-tech and Prins Verpakkingstechniek and Engineering
inno-tech, based in Reiskirchen, Germany, specializes in stainless steel vertical packaging machines for the food industry and technical applications, with Europe as the main market at present. The special focus on frozen food and the production of large pack sizes, e.g. for spices and pet food, makes inno-tech a suitable addition to the ROVEMA product portfolio. In close cooperation with the experienced inno-tech managing director Sebastian Klein, these strengths will also be further expanded in the ROVEMA network. Klein comments: "The takeover by ROVEMA and the associated entry into the Haniel Group is a great opportunity for inno-tech to continue growing internationally and offers us more security for the future and an even more long-term orientation."
The production area in Reiskirchen will be used specifically for the manufacture and assembly of stainless steel machines. This enables an optimization of production techniques in the immediate vicinity of the ROVEMA headquarters in Fernwald.
With the acquisition of Prins by ROVEMA Benelux, ROVEMA achieves full market penetration in this sales area. Under the leadership of ROVEMA Benelux Managing Director Christel Geerts, the core business will be complemented with a special focus on sales and service competence.
ROVEMA Managing Director Jens Torkel: "With inno-tech and Prins we can further strengthen our sales and service competence. The know-how of inno-tech in the field of stainless steel machines will support us in our further development, as well as in new markets. The expansion of our portfolio, the additional production area and the well-trained specialists are an important factor for our further growth."
Also, sustainable competence is crucial for long-term business success. For manufacturers of packaging machinery, the increased consumer interest in sustainable packaging solutions offers great opportunities for differentiation. Completely new packaging concepts and the development of new market segments are possible. Vertical packaging in particular offers a variety of approaches to saving resources, such as packaging materials, says Torkel: "Resource-efficient food packaging depends to a large extent on the competence of employees. Opportunities must be recognized in good time and implemented technically. That's why we're looking forward to combining our competencies with inno-tech and Prins and further expanding our network in this way." ROVEMA can already close loops and look after machines for many decades. It is also possible to take back used machines, refurbish them and sell them again.

Hassia India was previously part of the IMA S.p.A. Group. The company is firmly established in the mid-price segment, especially in Asia and Africa and, like ROVEMA, is very active in the food segment. In addition to classic Vertical Form, Fill and Seal machines, Hassia India manufactures technologically powerful multilane sachet Form, Fill and Seal machines, e.g. for packaging liquid detergents or cosmetic products in sachets.
This acquisition, allows ROVEMA to complete its international portfolio with a strategically important and very solid service and assembly location. The middle price segment in Asia and Africa has hardly been targeted so far, so can now be served quickly and reliably. The additional location in India also strengthens the ROVEMA service offer and enables the expansion of the comprehensive Life Cycle Service concept for Africa and Asia.
ROVEMA Managing Director Jens Torkel: "Hassia India fits precisely into our strategic alignment. The expansion of our market presence with local production in South East Asia will be significantly accelerated with this acquisition. Hassia India is a company with a very good service orientation and can already show intensive experience in dealing with sustainable packaging materials".
As with the acquisition of DL Packaging in January 2020, Hassia India will continue to operate under its existing brand name. The strengths of the company are to be further developed in the ROVEMA network in close cooperation with the long-standing Managing Director Mr. K. Ravi. Strong competencies in the powder segment on both sides, together with complementary expertise, e.g. in the production of portion packs for liquids, can be optimally coordinated. The current employees at the production site in Pune will remain.
ROVEMA's sustainable orientation is also decisive for the long-term cooperation. Commenting on Managing Director K. Ravi: "Hassia India has been a leader in value development in the segment of Vertical Form, Fill and Seal technology for years. Through innovation and also through Indianizing German technology. Our customers in India, South East Asia and Africa have set new standards with our support. ROVEMA is a strong brand with similar values and is a world leader in technology. Hassia India is excited about the acquisition and we are sure that we will be able to offer our customers new attractive offers and a plus in technology and added value".

ROVEMA thinks holistically and considers the environment, the market, the product and the packaging in projects from the beginning. This enables the development of efficient and sustainable packaging machines with high availability. A sustainable solution that matches the characteristics of the product to be packaged and its requirements in terms of logistics, packaging material, durability and energy efficiency is a top priority for ROVEMA. A successful concept - ROVEMA has already delivered more than 30.000 machines and systems worldwide and employs more than 600 people. In 2019, ROVEMA achieved a turnover of about 100 million Euro.
About Hassia Packaging Pvt. Ltd (Pune, India): Hassia India has been in European hands since its foundation in 1997. The specialist for the vertical packaging of powdery, lumpy and liquid products in the mid-price segment has an installed base of more than 1000 packaging machines. Hassia India employs around 100 people and achieved a revenue of approx. 5 million EUR in 2019.
ROVEMA BVC 310 Liquid is now available with a fitment option for use in portion dispensers.
Liquid and pasty products or products preserved in oil or vinegar have one thing in common: they are frequently used in the food service sector and must be quickly, efficiently and safely transportable, storable and usable.
ROVEMA as a specialist for flexible vertical packaging has taken up this topic and has further expanded its competence in packaging liquids. The vertically continuous Form Fill and Seal machine BVC 310 Liquid is now available with a fitment option for use in portion dispensers. This hygienic product removal is essential for many system restaurateurs.
Even lumpy products in brine can be packed in low-air pillow bags. This application is also particularly interesting as a replacement for rigid packaging such as buckets or cans. A good advantage of this flexible solution would be lower packaging material volume and weight. This is an important factor in view of the diverse sustainability goals of international companies.
By using flexible, low-air pillow bags, you can optimize your packaging processes and supply chain in a future-proof way - without compromising on product shelf life and quality. This is because Vertical Form Fill and Seal machines can be quickly and flexibly adapted to changing bag lengths, filling quantities and product changes and also have a small footprint. If you want to learn more about the change from rigid to flexible packaging for liquid products, we recommend our new white paper.

Dear valued Business Partner,
The current COVID-19 pandemic is a new and very challenging situation around the globe. To manage this situation in a very dynamic environment, like many other organizations ROVEMA is implementing new policies and procedures to help the health and safety of our employees, customers and visitors. This is currently our number one priority for our management team.
Our leadership team is following and reviewing daily the federal, state and local government suggestions concerning travelling, social and business practices. The situation is very volatile and changes nearly every day. We clearly recognize that this will have an impact on how we can do business with you and your facilities.
To maintain our business activities in the best way possible, including our manufacturing process, spare parts supply and service, we have taken in particular the following measures:
- We have established an internal crisis management team which will evaluate the impact of the daily situation to be able to respond immediately and effectively.
- Employees which do not have to be present physically in our facilities have been requested to work from home.
- People which have to take care about their children will also be encouraged to work from home as practicable.
- To reduce the risk in our manufacturing and assembly facility effective form 17th March 2020 we will go to a two shift model whereas around 50% of the staff will be working per shift at the same time. There will be no crossover time during shift change.
- We encourage our staff to reduce personnel meetings to a minimum. We are encouraging all our people, customers and partners to use all technological tools (Phone, Web) to collaborate on the daily business activities.
- Our people have been instructed to follow high hygienic precautions at our premises including sanitizing and social distance.
- Our travel policy for employees has been temporarily changed to only permit essential business travelling, which does not allow any delays.
- For customers that require one of our employees to travel to their location (including service calls and maintenance), we would ask you to submit a formal request in writing. This will then be reviewed and decided on the base of current travel restrictions by the government and local authorities.
- We are in permanent contact with our supply chain partners to monitor the impact to their business. Currently we have not received any feedback on immediate shortages.
We are facing this unexpected and very serious situation, which we manage in accordance with the governmental indications and instructions. We are working to minimize the potential impact this may have on our customer´s business taking into account all the different aspects of this very complicated and permanently changing challenge.
Should any questions arise in the coming days, please contact your responsible Account Manager.
Sincerely
ROVEMA GmbH

Your ROVEMA Team
With this acquisition, ROVEMA broadens its range of products in the retrofit and new machine segment gaining further access to customers in the medium price segment . DL Packaging will be part of the business unit Life Cycle Services and will continue to operate from Oosterhout with the existing team and brand name. All DL Packaging employees will keep their previous functions and tasks. Both companies are looking forward to this cooperation and see many advantages and opportunities.
CEO Leo van der Vorm: “DL Packaging proves that since 1996 there is a big European market for well retrofitted machines and medium priced vertical Form, Fill and Seal machines; already approximately 600 DL Packaging machines have been delivered.“
With more than 30.000 machines delivered worldwide, Rovema does have a bigger installed base, but has only been active in the retrofit business since 2014. CEO Ralf Buch: “Through the cooperation with DL packaging, Rovema strengthens its business unit retrofit machines and further invests in a sustainable business model that allows a second usage phase for retrofitted used machines.”
An attractive future-proof appearance at the Point of Sale – with the Rovema BVC 260 Flexible
The ROVEMA BVC Flexible machine series allows maximum flexibility in bag designs for bag widths up to 400 mm and is suitable for the production of Doypack-like RoPack bags with longitudinal zip. Also pillow bags, gusseted bags and 4-side-seal-pouches with or without zippers can be produced. ROVEMA’s BVC Flexible was developed with the goal to make a Doy-style bag on a VFFS unit as appealing as those produced by their HFFS counterparts, while offering companies the inherent advantages of VFFS machines: e.g. reduced operating cost, heightened flexibility, decreased machine footprint, quicker format changes and optional product gassing. The machine offers high efficiency compared to horizontal packaging machines - with convincing bag quality. Just product, bag shape and packaging materials limit the machine’s output rate. Depending on the specific application, up to 105 RoPack bags with longitudinal zip can be produced per minute. The ROVEMA BVC 260 Flexible can be optimally adjusted to various applications, such as sweets, dried fruits, cereals and nuts and processes almost all laminate packaging materials, even thinner packaging materials can be used.
The continuous motion machine is designed and built for maximum output performance. Even for the high speeds, it is equipped with product detection “Sense&Seal”. Sensitive electronics detect even tiny product parts in the sealing area, allowing the sealing process and the cutting procedure to be interrupted and the sealing jaws stopped and moved back. The machine produces a double bag that is discharged and automatically starts the packaging procedure again – cutting knife and sealing jaws remain clean. A large number of bag shapes are possible with longitudinal zip as re-closure and is supported in the process by reproducible, easy changeovers between formats. Through a variable movement pattern within the cross sealing jaws, compared to common vertical methodologies, a particularly high filling degree as well as an improved bag shaping is reached. A harmonized packaging process with smooth and even movements allows a low-wear production and a long machine service life. The product area is consequently separated from the drive area, to serve the highest hygiene requirements whilst being quick and easy to clean.
Besides the all-rounder BVC Flexible, a specialist machine will be presented – ROVEMA BVC 145 TwinTube succeeds as fastest twin with an output rate of up to 500 pillow bags per minute.
The ROVEMA twin tube technology allows packaging of sweets and snacks within the smallest of spaces. The continuous motion BVC 145 TwinTube is also equipped with the proven product detection Sense&Seal, which detects products in the sealed area. Defective bags are discharged directly by up to 250 bags per minute per line. Product detection works entirely independently for both lines. While discharging on line one, line two can continue production without constraints - this reduces the amount of defective bags by 50%.
A fully automatic edge control for both lines allows a reproducible format changeover. Each line has separate film drive control, which guarantees exact bag lengths. The single roll packaging material infeed is subsequently separated into two film rolls. Optionally, two film rolls can be processed separately. The sealing force of both cross sealing tools can be adjusted individually, allowing processing of various packaging materials with optimum sealed seam quality. Production of bags with euro hole is possible without a reduction of output rate.
Sophisticated and space-saving design for optimum accessibility Machine control is fully integrated into the machine housing. The control cabinet can be pulled out completely, for easier cleaning, maintenance and adjustment processes. Swiveling double safety doors can be fully opened and allow access to the machine’s working area. The reel carrier is also accessible from all sides. Space-saving integration of printers, labelers and metal detection is available as an option. The new ROVEMA BVC 145 TwinTube Form Fill and Seal machine sets new standards for the fast and space-saving production of perfectly shaped bags in the confectionery and snacks industry.

- Product Stripping for a better fill ratio: the seal jaws gently push product further into the bag, ensuring a clean sealing area – particularly interesting for wrapped products (e.g. “double twist”)
- Sense and Seal™ product detection, prevents cutting knife and seal jaw being soiled and damaged - increases uptime.
- Premium Seal™, offering increased sealed seam quality, even when processing challenging, multilayer packaging materials. The sealing medium is preheated prior to final sealing of the package.
In addition to Rovema’s equipment and expertise helping to develop and produce innovative bag styles, Hershey’s project team also valued Rovema’s ability to deliver multiple machines in a short time period, and its commitment to provide onsite support to multiple locations simultaneously. This helped ensure a smooth vertical start-up for Hershey’s product launch across a wide variety of products. In fact, Rovema went so far as to relocate a service technician to the Hershey area to provide the tightest-possible response time for any concerns or training requirements. “Our collaboration with Hershey’s showcases Rovema’s commitment not only to innovative machine design but also exemplary customer service,” said John Panaseny, President of Rovema NA. “It’s an honor to be recognized by Hershey’s, and we’re delighted to have played an important role in their successful product launch.”
ROVEMA presents SBS 250 Twin
Rovema's packaging system SBS 250 TWIN is a combination of two BVC vertical continuous Form Fill and Seal machines and integrated downstream systems for bag top and bag closure designs. The packages can individually be adjusted to the market situation.

At the annual sales meeting in February, more than 70 employees and representatives of ROVEMA from the EMEA area (Europe, Middle East and Africa) met to discuss current developments and innovations.
After a very successful fiscal year 2018, with a turnover of 110 million Euros, ROVEMA plans a further increase in turnover for 2019. The main increase in sales is expected from US and Asia. The technical developments in the confectionary sector and the proceeding internal development in robotics and final packaging will contribute to achieve these objectives.
To provide enough room for this development, ROVEMA is currently building a new assembly hall, measuring 3.300 m².
CEO Peter Baumgartner and Roland Kuhn Vice President of sales led the 2-day event. In addition to the presentation and introduction of new and future product developments, contributions on Life Cycle Management and sustainability were part of the program. „The lively discussion on sustainability is of course a topic for us all. Our machines process various packaging materials - including plastics. Many clients are now interested in sustainable solutions and specifically ask for those. Thanks to our high-quality machines and our application know how, we are able to offer different solutions and advice comprehensively, “says Kuhn. ROVEMA has been relying on sustainable solution for many years – with market-oriented packaging solutions, an easy machine operation and a comprehensive maintenance and service concept.
However, to operate machines efficiently on a long-term basis, operators on-site need to be included. ROVEMA has recognized this demand and completely revised its training department in 2018: contemporary trainings are now available all year round in Fernwald using updated contents and materials.
After a certain production time, often in a 3-shift operation, even ROVEMA machines need maintenance or modernization work. In addition to this global offering, ROVEMA provides complete overhauls of used packaging machines: ROVEMA Retrofit. Machines that are decades old are brought up to the latest technical standards. „The high reliability and availability of ROVEMA products is of crucial importance for our clients. With our international Life Cycle Service Organization, we support our clients throughout the machine’s life cycle with quicker, more reliable spare parts, modernizations to enhance productivity, efficient service deployments and a broad training program for machine operators. Through this trusting cooperation, our machines remain up to date with the latest technology for decades and reach optimum reliability and availability,” explains Peter Baumgartner.

With a ceremonial laying of the foundation stone together with 60 invited guests, the construction of the new assembly hall, measuring 3.300 m², has started. As of June 2019 the final assembly of the packaging machines and –lines will take place in the new building at Rovema’s headquarter in Fernwald, Germany.
The new building project will allow Rovema to implement a couple of production optimization measures, particularly ensuring the smooth flow of materials. A new laser-cutting machine with fully automated warehousing system will be installed. The ceiling height of 15 m will allow the usage of a double crane system, enabling modern and efficient processes. As in the production extension in 2016 (1000 m²), the new building will be connected to the existing hall and is built of pre-assembled ferroconcrete parts, fulfilling the recent regulations for heat insulation. A later installation of a photovoltaics system is planned.
„Sustainability is one of ten investment criteria of the Haniel Group“, explains Stephan Gemkow, Chairman of Haniel's Management Board and Chief Human Resources Officer.
During the festivities, Dr. Helge Braun, Federal Minister for special affairs and head of the German chancellery talked to Rovema’s guests. He reports of the impressive concentration of educational facilities around the German headquarter and Germany’s high innovation potential in international comparison. Braun is convinced that a company can succeed in the market with environmental technologies and sustainable ideas. Especially due to his background as a doctor, he reminded the audience of the importance of a high product quality at consumption – possible through high quality, hygienic packaging. In regards to the current discussions on plastics and plastic recycling in the media, a further important factor to consider!
The investment of about 8 million Euros is necessary to come up to the positive order trend. In addition to the new production hall, Rovema will build new car parks and a bypass for the fire brigade. In 2017, the company had a turnover of € 102 million. For 2018, € 110 turnaround is expected. Rovema currently employs a staff of 650 employees worldwide.
ROVEMA Touchpoint Packaging – integrated system for placing confectionary at POS
The packaging line will include a high speed vertical Form, Fill and Seal BVC 250 Compact machine with a final packaging system EC, which combines a box erector, a pick & place unit including grouping and a closing unit on a footprint of just 10 m². This shows a compact and complete system in which all components can be operated via the central machine control.
The compact BVC 250 vertical Form, Fill and Seal machine is equipped with the proven product detection Sense & Seal, which detects products in the sealed area.
Defective bags are discharged directly or lead out of the bagging machine downwards, by up to 240 bags per minute.
The bags are lying with the longitudinal seam upwards (face down), allowing the orientation of the bags to be ready for how they are stored in the tray. Across a conveyor belt the bags are transported into the buffer indexing chain and then in individual single cases, ensuring safe and fast transport under the pick & place unit. There, two complete layers of bags are sucked with a vacuum gripper and positioned in the tray according to a defined scheme.
The motion profiles of the delta kinematics, the speeds of the box erector and the box closing system are calculated by the company's machine control ROVEMA P@ck-Control. So, the individual units are optimally balanced. The packaging process is characterized by an energy-efficient and wear-reduced process, which ensures a high level of product protection at the same time. The finished pack is provided with a tear-open perforation, which turns the transport packaging into a cargo-friendly, high-end display package at the point of sale. Up to 30 units can be produced per minute.

Duisburg/Fernwald, 13 August 2018. Thomas Becker, 54, CEO of ROVEMA since 2011, left the company for personal reasons and on the best of terms with the shareholders.
Thomas Becker, who studied engineering and business administration, took over the reins of the company in 2011 together with other investors and has continuously developed it into one of the market leaders in modern packaging machines. Thanks to his high level of commitment, many international manufacturers of branded goods from the food sector trust in ROVEMA technology and make use of the corresponding services. Not least, he played a major role in the takeover of ROVEMA GmbH by the family equity company Haniel in October 2017. Haniel Chairman Stephan Gemkow: “The Haniel Management Board would like to thank Thomas Becker for his many years of successful commitment as Managing Director of ROVEMA. His courage in guiding the company out of a difficult phase and his far-sighted and innovative decision-making were decisive for the outstanding development that ensued”.
Peter Baumgartner, 64, will lead the company as CEO together with the former ROVEMA management team on an interim basis. As Chairman of the Supervisory Board , he has been acting in an advisory capacity for the company for some time. “We are delighted that Peter Baumgartner has immediately agreed to step in to fill the gap,” says Stephan Gemkow. “As a graduate engineer and with 30 years’ experience in industry and consulting, he will continue to manage the company with a large degree of continuity together with the management team. Nor, in a transitional phase such as this, can we imagine a better interim solution for the employees of ROVEMA”.

“This of course always changes the demands on the production. The technology used to produce alginate is different from that of our Fresh4Sure mouthwash,” explained Ben van Raemdonck, Technical Operations Manager at Cavex. For this reason, a project was started to look for a machine for the packaging of alginate products. “We had two Form Fill and Seal machines. We were looking for capacity expansion and especially a cleaner production with much less dust,” said Ton van Gemert, Technical Production Engineer.
During their visit to the ROVEMA technical center in Fernwald, Germany, Ben and Ton were immediately impressed. “The amount of dust was minimal and we saw that the capacity could be increased without any problems,” explained Ben van Raemdonck. “Yes, and the product looks much better in the new packaging,” added Ton van Gemert. The choice fell on a ROVEMA SBS 250 packaging machine, which has been in operation for about six months. “We are satisfied. Our expectations for the tests in Fernwald have been completely fulfilled. The machine and the cooperation with ROVEMA are great,” concluded Ben van Raemdonck.
ROVEMA is also pleased with the successful cooperation and thanks Cavex for the confidence placed in them.
Preliminary tests and trial runs with different packaging materials and original products can be flexibly planned in the company’s own test center. Contact us!

Haniel intends to acquire ROVEMA from the German financial investors Equita GmbH & Co. Holding KGaA and Equita GmbH & Co. CoVest KGaA (hereinafter referred to as “HQ Equita”) and from the CEO of the company, Thomas Becker. ROVEMA is a leading company in the development, manufacturing, maintenance and modernisation of packaging machines and systems. ROVEMA has grown by double-digit percentages in both of the past two years thanks to its diverse and innovative product portfolio and its service offers. Headquartered in Fernwald/Hesse and with branches and sales subsidiaries in over 50 countries, the company is expected to generate sales of around EUR 100 million in 2017. The Haniel holding company offers an outstanding basis for the future development of ROVEMA, which the current CEO Thomas Becker will continue. In addition, he will reinvest in the company.
“We are delighted to have acquired ROVEMA, a high-growth and high-margin business with many unique selling points in an attractive market for our portfolio,” says Haniel CEO Stephan Gemkow. “ROVEMA’s business model is unique in its combination of technological skills and proximity to its customers and produces excellent quality for hygienic and innovative packaging solutions. ROVEMA is an established innovator in this business segment, serves global megatrends and also has huge potential – both for organic and inorganic growth.”
Customer-focused approach
The highly innovative company and its around 600-strong workforce is a leading manufacturer of machines for dosing, filling, sealing, cartooning and final packaging. ROVEMA has positioned itself as an end-to-end solution provider, where the focus, from development and manufacturing, through consultancy and project planning, to installation and acceptance, is always the partnership with the customer. Moreover, the range of services that is offered also includes the complete refurbishment and resale of used packaging machines as well as other service offers.
In addition to the head office and production premises in Fernwald, the company currently has locations in Europe, the US and Asia, which means it is active in over 50 countries. ROVEMA supplies customers from various segments of the food industry via this global network of branches and sales subsidiaries.
Management delighted with growth prospects
Thomas Becker, CEO of ROVEMA, is delighted with the prospects for growth under the umbrella of the Haniel holding company: “With Haniel’s long-standing expertise in developing companies, we can promote ROVEMA’s further growth in a quick and structured manner. This is a significant step in the company’s history. Sustainable economic, ecological and social action is an essential element of the corporate culture for ROVEMA. This is another area where we identify with Haniel.”
“We are convinced that we have found the best owner for ROVEMA in Haniel,” said Christine Weiß, HQ Equita partner, on the signing of the contract. “The holding has demonstrated with Bekaert Deslee and CWS-boco how successfully it develops its portfolio companies. This was what won the bidding process.”
Previous investments form good basis for future development
HQ Equita acquired ROVEMA in June 2015 from the managing partner Thomas Becker and two other private individuals. Since HQ Equita’s acquisition, the business has evolved dynamically. The steps taken together include the (re-)entry into the US and French markets by founding local subsidiaries and the acquisition of former sales agents’ activities. The company has also tapped into new application segments in the field of liquid food packaging and offered integrated robotic solutions. In response to strong growth, capacity in the company was expanded by building a new hall at the Fernwald site and significantly increasing the workforce by around one-fifth since the acquisition.
It has been agreed not to disclose the purchase price and the further details of the contractual arrangements. The transaction is subject to the approval of the responsible antitrust authorities.
Haniel was supported in the transaction by the following advisers: Berndt+Partner (CDD), ensign advisory (CDD), Ernst & Young (FDD), Glade Michel Wirtz (legal, purchase agreement) und HPC (environment).

Alistair Bown of ROVEMA said: “In 1996 we supplied a packaging line consisting of four ROVEMA VPR continuous motion vertical bagging machines fitted with ROVEMA SDX auger fillers. The filled bags were then fed into a CMK continuous motion horizontal cartoning machine. Over the years we have continued to be one of Kendal Nutricare’s preferred suppliers and are delighted to have reached this 21 year milestone.” ROVEMA’s UK office opened over 30 years ago and the company has supplied more than 30,000 packaging machines worldwide for food and non-food goods. Its five UK based engineers located around the country are ready to offer support to customers at all times.
Ian Price from Kendal Nutricare said: “We’ve received exceptional service from ROVEMA for all these years and continue to do so. David Holmes of ROVEMA, who originally installed the line, is still supporting it to this day and he has always gone above and beyond when any assistance was needed. I can’t recommend ROVEMA highly enough. We’re expecting to see another 20 plus years out of the original packaging line and we will definitely continue to buy from ROVEMA.”
We wish Ian Price all the best for his well-deserved retirement.
To celebrate its 60th jubilee, ROVEMA invited guests to take a “glimpse behind the scenes” into the company’s production halls. Six complex packaging machines were presented, and our modern production facilities opened for a guided tour. For example the final packaging machine EW 463, destined for the Netherlands, which can pack up to 120 rice packages per minute into transport packages, was presented. The Form Fill and Seal machine built for an American client to pack loose tea, and the intermittent operating Form Fill and Seal machine which will pack spices up to 60 bags per minute in Dubai.
As a special highlight for future skilled young talents and our current apprentices, a voyage of discovery had been provided. The different areas of the ROVEMA training workshop could be visited and the various professions experienced – first-hand information.
As part of the ROVEMA basketball sponsoring, Marco Völler from the Gießen 46ers team was present for a signing session.
Founded as a family company in 1957, thanks to many pioneering innovations in packaging technology, ROVEMA quickly grew from a small business to a medium-sized company.
In 1981 Dr. Walter Baur took over the majority of shares. Through strict re-organization in combination with investments in further and new developments in packaging technology as well as a focus on markets and customers, the company developed into the industry’s technology leader.
After a re-organization in 2010, successful developments continued. Turnover was 92 million Euros in 2016, 100 million Euros are planned – with about 650 ROVEMA employees worldwide. At the packaging show Interpack in May 2017, ROVEMA collected 230 requests for proposals with an order volume of 5,3 million Euros. About 1200 visitors have been received, advised and served on the 840m² ROVEMA stand. Also a big anniversary celebration with 640 international clients took place during Interpack in Düsseldorf.
To stay successful and to continuously serve the leading role, the production plant’s premises and machine equipment need to be regularly maintained and modernized. Currently, the old production hall’s roof, an area of 5000m², is being isolated and refurbished using state-of-the-art technology. In 2017 alone, investments of 1,5 million Euros will be made for refurbishing and renovations.
High innovative power combined with technological competence, long-term customer relationships and acceptance as well as the experienced staff’s comprehensive know-how are - according to managing partner Thomas Becker – a guarantee for further continuous growth.
Thomas Becker, managing partner, ROVEMA GmbH: “I am proud to see ROVEMA as winner of the German Packaging Award once again. This award proves our high innovation power and our extensive experience in packing powder.”
The German Packaging Award is an annual European contest that has been awarded from the German Packaging Institute (DVI) for 40 years.
The new ROVEMA HMI is a touch-optimized user interface for the packaging machinery manufacturer’s machines and systems that are used worldwide for forming, filling, closing, commissioning and shelf-ready final packaging. The user-centered and intuitive application provides a uniform design for all different machine types. The HMI control is process-oriented and easy to understand. The reduced and consistent design provides a compact display of information, allowing direct and comprehensible communication of process values – optimal support for the operator.
Thomas Becker, managing partner, ROVEMA GmbH: „Our HMI’s complete revision for us is one further safe step into the future. The communication between operator and machine is an IoT (Internet of Things) relevant, important success factor for our clients. I am pleased to offer with our new HMI task-specific, intuitive and state of the art operating options already today.”
The first machines equipped with the new HMI will be delivered to Germany and the USA in October. Beginning of 2018, delivery of the first complex packaging line is planned.
Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award: “I am delighted that agencies, designers and companies from all over the world have once again used the Red Dot Award: Communication Design as an evaluation platform. It is important to subject one’s own achievements to scrutiny again and again in order to constantly improve and maximize the potential for success. I congratulate the Red Dot winners on the high design quality of their work. The award testifies to the fact that they are pursuing the right design strategy”.
The award ceremony for the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 will take place on 27 October. During the Red Dot Gala in the Konzerthaus Berlin in Germany, the Red Dot: Best of the Best and Red Dot: Grand Prix winners will receive their trophies. At the subsequent Designers’ Night in the E-Werk Berlin, the Red Dot laureates will be given their well-deserved certificates and will celebrate their success. In addition, the exclusive winners’ exhibition “Design on Stage” will showcase the awarded communication works at the after-show party, including the new ROVEMA HMI.
The award-winning project from HMI Project will also be presented in the International Yearbook Communication Design 2017/2018. It will be published on November 14th, 2017 and documents the state of the art in global communication design.

Packaging machine manufacturer ROVEMA, headquartered in Fernwald near Frankfurt/Germany, is celebrating the company's 60th anniversary by showcasing its comprehensive packaging expertise at Interpack 2017. Exhibits cover a wide variety of industries and applications for powders, confectionery, pasta, snacks, frozen foods, dry fruit, coffee and liquids.
Machines exhibited will also show the new ROVEMA user guidance which, in combination with the smart ROVEMA P@ck-Control software, ensures ROVEMA machine’s easy and safe operation.
The new ROVEMA HMI features a dashboard that graphically supports operators throughout production. The intuitive touch operation enables the smooth adjustment of all operator inputs that are important for the packaging process: sealing time, sealing force, bag length and set number of cycles. Based on these parameters the machine automatically calculates the optimal operating settings. Clearly displayed graphic elements provide real-time information on key machine data such as infeed capacity, film run and production output at a single glance. All upstream and downstream machines can be integrated, monitored and controlled from a central location. Operators can also arrange their individual favourites for key input controls and indicators.
Illustrated instructions provide operators with a step-by-step guide for essential conversion and adjustment tasks such as format or product changes. The HMI also includes clearly laid-out screens where all required information and operative steps are grouped together according to tasks like diagnosis or running of new recipes. In case of a malfunction, operators immediately receive brief information on potential troubleshooting options as well as a graphical illustration to localize the fault. The new HMI's help functions are rounded off with the option to store your own notes or to establish direct contact with ROVEMA's support team.
ROVEMA manufacturer of packaging machines, headquartered in Fernwald near Giessen, will be presenting a compact edge sealed packaging system for flat bottom bags with clip and the BVK vertical form-, fill and seal machine for standard bag styles at Fachpack 2016. High-grade confectionery and candies, premium pasta and selected pulses are increasingly packaged in flat bottom bags with a clip for reclosing. Typically the clip applicator is connected to the vertical bagger as a separate component, whereby the set performance is considerably limited.
We will also be exhibiting our SBS 250 packaging system including a vertical BVC continuously working form-, fill and seal machine and the integrated clip applicator. The operation of both components is done by the machine control ROVEMA P@ckControl. The filled bags are transferred by cycle chain, which holds the bags and transfers them safely to the closing clipper. Due to the direct infeed, a set performance of up to 80 bags/minute is possible, depending on bag style and weight. The vertical form-, fill and seal machine as well as the clip aggregate are very accessible so that size changes, cleaning and maintenance work can be shortened tremendously.
The packaging system allows the handling of nearly all mono and laminated films of various thicknesses and is also prepared for different sealing procedures such as heat sealing and impulse welding. The SBS packaging system offers high flexibility in the choice of film material as well as bag style. As the clipper is height adjustable, it is also possible to produce long fin seals, which cannot be produced with clippers customary in the market.
Needing a space requirement of approx. 9 m² the SBS packaging system with integrated clipper is a compact solution for attractive packaging styles with clip closure.
BVK 260 Vertical form fill-, and seal machine – ideal for standard bag styles
ROVEMA will also be presenting the BVK 260 vertical continuous form-, fill and seal machine for standard bag styles like pillow bags and flat bottom bags. At a competitive price the machine offers extremely high production safety by proven and robust machine technology. The vacuum supported film draw down allows the processing of various mono and laminated films. The electro components are integrated in the machine housing by an extricable mounting plate. This allows good accessibility for electrical and pneumatic maintenance works to be carried out and the space requirement of the machine is reduced. With a set performance of up to 120 bag/min. and a format size range of 60 mm up to 260 mm the BVK 260 is the ideal vertical form-, fill- and seal machine for all standard bag styles used in the market.
At the end of each show day all enquiries will be thrown into a hat and one lucky winner will receive a multi award winning bottle of the finest 30 year old Speyside Scotch Whisky. Each days winner will then be also be entered into another draw to win an all expenses overnight trip to the factory in Germany. Here they will get the opportunity to see the exceptional German build quality and assembly techniques ROVEMA employ, up close. Also they will get the chance to quiz the engineers and designers over the cutting edge technology and various machines they have seen during the visit. The trip will be rounded off with a hearty dose of German hospitality!!
As well as celebrating this milestone, ROVEMA will be demonstrating a bag-in-box Cartoning line on its stand at the PPMA Total Show. The line will consist of ROVEMA’s latest high-speed BVC VFFS machine feeding into a horizontal CMH-I cartoner. The line is perfect for rice, pasta, baby food or pet food amongst others. Although ROVEMA have been building high quality cartoning machines for decades this will be the first time ROVEMA has shown one at the PPMA show. They hope it will give visitors the opportunity to explore more of the extensive range of packaging machines now in their portfolio. Alongside this we will also be presenting information on their comprehensive range of fully flexible case packers. The range includes wrap around, high speed tray and lid, American case, drop packers and the new Flexpicker picker cell. Ease of use, reliability, flexibility and the obvious German build quality are a few of the factors that have seen this sector of ROVEMA’s portfolio see considerable growth over recent years.
The new production hall of 1000 m2 was officially opened on 1st July 2016 at a summer company party for all employees.
After only 7 months of construction time from planning to finish operation in the new production hall with a capacity of about 1000m2 will start as scheduled on 1st July. The management invited all 460 employees at Fernwald to the official opening at a summer company party to celebrate this achievement.
The new building, which is connected to an existing hall is built of pre-assembled ferroconcrete parts and corresponds to the recent regulations for heat insulation. A big panoramic window enables assembly work in daylight; three fast run gates reduce loading time, as the trucks can drive directly into the hall. The machines can be loaded from the new installation site directly onto the trucks.20 people will be mounting and testing vertical baggers and end-of-line machines in the new hall, where complete packaging lines can be implemented now before they are delivered to the customer. A 12 t crane and a 15 t crane are mounted from the ceiling and facilitate transport during the production flow.
In phase 2 an outbuilding with an office for foremen and a social area for the employees will be joined to the hall during 2017.
The expansion of production capacity was necessary to come up to the positive order trend. Further expansion stages are planned according to the development of business.
In 2010, the company had a turnover of € 36 million and 280 employees. This year orders of € 90 million are expected. At the same time the staffing level has doubled from 282 to approximately 580 people worldwide.
„So much growth needs space“, said Thomas Becker, CEO of ROVEMA GmbH, “which we will create gradually”. At the end the production area should have grown by 3000 up to 5000 square meters.
High innovative capacity combined with technological expertise, long lasting customer loyalty and acceptance, as well as the extensive know-how of experienced staff guarantee, according to Becker, sustained future growth.
In 2014, Saue Production Estonia received a BVC 400 with auger doser SDH to pack spices. By purchasing this machine, the previous manual packaging has been automated. Essential for the client was the high repeatability and flexibility achieved with the ROVEMA servo drive that allows diverse pack sizes and bag shapes.
Already at the start of the cooperation, ROVEMA and Bedika convinced the client with their accomplished and quick offer. Overall, the client felt well taken care of. Tarmo Leht: „I felt respected as a client before as well as after signing the contract and had the feeling, that we are important to ROVEMA“.
Crucial for the decision were the testing facilities at the in-house technical center. On-site at Fernwald, output rate and mode of operation had been demonstrated convincingly. Furthermore, 3D drawings for illustration had been available throughout the planning phase.
Tarmo Leht: “ROVEMA convinced me with its high innovative capacity and its sophisticated solutions. The professional implementation at the factory acceptance at Fernwald as well as the on-site acceptance in Estonia was highly approved among all project participants.”
The client’s expectations on production capacity have been by far fulfilled: on-site the ROVEMA team was able to produce a higher output than originally offered. Currently, the machine is run at an 8 hour shift. Two-shift operation is only necessary occasionally. Mr. Leht attests good and quick service from ROVEMA / Bedika. For the future, a machine upgrade with “Stabilo Seal” is roughly planned. With this, production of higher quality packaging for different markets would be possible.

At the annual sales meeting in early February; more than 90 employees and representatives of ROVEMA from 37 nations met to discuss current developments and the implementation of the common growth strategy.
After a very successful fiscal year 2015, with a turnover of 80 million Euros, ROVEMA plans another increase in turnover of 10% for 2016. The main increase in sales is expected from the US and further, newly established, international key accounts. Also the technical developments in the snack food sector and the proceeding internal development in robotics will contribute to achieve these objectives.
To provide enough room for this development, during 2016, ROVEMA will invest 4,2 million Euros in the expansion of the company’s headquarter and production facility in Fernwald.
CEO Thomas Becker, sales manager Roland Kuhn, as well as Soeren Glaeser, Head of Customer Service Center, led the event. The presentation and introduction of new and future product developments, the ROVEMA Customer Service, ROVEMA Retrofit and reportsof successful business examples from variousinternational markets were part of the program. Guests took a guided tour through the production plant and, in addition to theinspection of the machines currently in production, received an overview of the new acquisitions in this area.
The common passion for high quality packaging machines and the open corporate culture ensured a pleasant 3 days with productive and creative discussions. There was also a lively exchange between the international teams outside the official agenda.
A large annual meeting of all sales companiesand representatives is part of the ROVEMA corporate strategy and traditionally takes place at and around the headquarters in Fernwald.
Roland Kuhn concluded: "We thank our employees and partners sincerely for the successful event and the interesting presentations and contributions. We are looking forward to continuing our successful partnership – also with regard to the international packaging trade fair Interpack, which will take place in May 2017"
ROVEMA GmbH with headquarters in Fernwald is a leading international manufacturer ofpackaging machines and packaging lines for various products and applications. ROVEMA currently employs approximately 550employees worldwide and will be represented at more than 25 international trade fairs in 2016.
ROVEMA proudly presents itself once at Fachpack to prove its innovative capacity in the matter of packaging machines.
ROVEMA will be exhibiting a typical application for the packaging of confectionery, pastries and cookies.
The packaging line will incorporate the BVC 180 bagging system with integrated weigher and a picker modul. The control of the picker modul and the weigher which is directly mounted on the vertical bagger is integrated in the vertical bagger. So we have a complete system available where all components can be operated by the machine control.
The BVC 180 vertical bagger is equipped with an integrated metal detector in the weigher frame as well as the proven product detection sense&seal, which detects product parts in the seal area and directly pushes out of faulty bags. The bags will be guided downwards directly out of the machine. This saves space and enables good accessibility from the front. The bags are guided in lying position, face up, i.e. the orientation of the bag is already in place as to how it will be laid up in the tray. The bags will be guided to the picker by an infeed belt, will be sucked in by vacuum grippers and positioned in the tray according to a defined scheme, which can be configured freely. The motion profiles of the delta kinematics will be caculated by the vertical bagger control. Thus the picker is couppled smoothly to the continuously driven infeed and discharge belts. The packaging process runs smoothly and in an energy-efficient operation which is gentle for the product and machine.
When changing the performance of the vertical bagger, the picker rautomatically adapts its movement profile. The choice of the recipe will also be implemented in the picker. This shortens change over times. All adjustments for the vertical bagger, weigher and picker will be made on only one menu display (HMI touch panel). The same hardware is used throughout. Thus the world wide ROVEMA service can provide optimum support for the whole solution. There is no training or additional personnel needed for the operation of the weigher and picker. The operator can also make changes in the layer schemes or the bag format by entering a few parameters without having robotic programming-knowledge.

ROVEMA offers the new continuous vertical form-, fill and seal machine BVR 230 with integrated weigher - a compact packaging system for snack products. This is the successful improvement of the principle of the pair of rotating sealing tools, which has been used by ROVEMA for many years.
The sophisticated and proven machine technology in combiantion with the completely integrated weigher offers an attractive concept for the snack industry with convincing price-performance ratio.
Like all machines of the ROVEMA BV-series the BVR 230 fulfils the actual hygiene standarsd. In a small footprint, all areas are esaly accessible for cleaning purposes, as the weigher is mounted directly on the vertical bagger as a system.
Furthemore the control cabinet is integrated in the machine housing on a removable mounting plate. This requires less space and ensures good accessibility for maintenace jobs.
Due to rotating pairs of sealing tools - optionally one or two pairs of jaws - the BVR is designed for a high set performance of up to 180 pillow bags per minute. Due to the D-formed movement of the sealing tools long sealing times for perfect bag seal quality can be achieved with a wide spectrum of suitable film qualities.
The weigher is mechanically and electronically integrated to the system to achieve the best possible performance without synchronization losses.
Furthermore a mechanical separately driven cutting knife reduces wearing and the associated down-times.
The adjustment of all operator inputs which are important for the packaging process such as product falling time, sealing time, bag length and set performance is done at the HMI Touch Panel. On the basis of those parameters, the machine automatically calculates the optimal operating settings.
Throughout many years, a hot air welding system with integrated water cooling was used as standard for welding the vertical seam of PE film in ROVEMA baggers. In the current machine models, this system has been replaced by a new execution with an extended functional range and a modern design. The new unit does no longer require water cooling. A proper function control offers more flexibility as well as individual setting options. Moreover, the integrated unit for air quantity regulation and monitoring opens up savings potential regarding air consumption.
The conversion to a new hot air welding unit offers many advantages regarding the control system and the welding procedure such as a regular temperature control along the whole welding area and reaching the nominal temperature right after the start. Furthermore, the new unit enables effective flow settings with energy saving potential and is less susceptible to faults thanks to latetest technology. The conversion kit has a modern design and is suitable only for machines with ISA control or P@ckControl system.
The OPC server software can be installed on machines with P@ckControl via a predetermined interface in order to optimize data processing. OPC means "Open Productivity & Connectivity" in an industrial environment and enables the collection of data out of the machine in an uncomplicated and dependable way. These include error protocols, current recipes, production counter and information according to the machine type. With the OPC server software, the production can be monitored in the best possible way. Furthermore, at any time machine users receive all necessary information about the performance of the machine. The adaptation of the machine software by ROVEMA can take place via modem or VPN.
ROVEMA presents the new BVC in two different construction sizes - a perfect packaging machine for the frozen food industry.
The new BVC is designed in such a way that only product, bag style and film limit the machine performance. Uneven form and consistency of products, or the use of different film is no problem for the BVC.
Flexibility in packaging size, extremly low percentage of air inside the bag and high sealing tightness are guaranteed with the BVC. The packaging of all mono and laminated films in various thicknesses enables the production of varied bag styles.
The continuous motion machine is designed and built for optimum performance. It is equipped with product detection sense&seal together with high speed. When the sensitive electronics detects tiny product parts in seal areas the sealing process and the cutting procedure is interrupted and the sealing jaws will be stopped and moved back. The machine produces a double bag that is discharged and automatically starts the packaging procedure again. For difficult or very sensitive films, the BVC is equipped with the innovative Sense-Tack-Welding technology, STW. In addition to the sealing temperature, sealing and cooling time parameters, the sealing power profile is also optimized. As all sealing parameters can be adjusted individually highest repeatability and reliability is achieved. This will result in a very high machine effiiency degree of up to 98% whilst producing perfect bag quality. The product area is consequently separated from the drive area, so the machine fulfils the highest hygiene requirements whilst ensuring that the machine can also be quickly and easily cleaned.
The new machine series covers two construction sizes: the BVC 260 for the format size area 60 - 260mm and BVC 400 for the format size area 80-400mm.
For the frozen food industry, with its high demands on cleanliness, flexibility and efficiency, but without compromising hygiene, the BVC is the ideal machine.
The ROVEMA volume dosers VDD / VDX with flap closure are known for gentle product handling and precise dosing. With a specially compiled wear part kit, ROVEMA meets the high demands on the closing mechanism of each cup.Deformed flaps cause dosing inaccuracies and weight fluctuations. Moreover, an uncontrolled loss of product unnecessarily pollutes the machine environment and the machine itself.
Now the worn parts can be exchanged immediatly if required. This effectively prevents unplanned downtime as well as loss of production. Moreover, this ensures a constant functioning of the machine. In addition, the wear part kit containing 8 flaps and a closing cam for the flap closure system offers an optimal selection of parts for the respective volume doser.
Auger dosers from ROVEMA are known for their reliability, product protection and dosing accuracy during the filling process. A flexible use of the auger doser is ensured by the height adjustment device, which is usually actuated by a manually operated hydraulic lifting device. However, by now this device only insufficiently fulfills the current safety standards.
With the spindle height adjustment unit ROVEMA now offers a beneficial and safe alternative. Thanks to the purely mechanical adjustment device containing a spindle with trapezoidal thread, the height of the doser can be adjusted in a fast, uncomplicated and reproducible way.Every adjustment can be monitored via a position indicator. Moreover, the unit offers a considerable improvement in terms of safety since it prevents the auger doser from slipping uncontrollably after a relaese of the clamping lever.
The spindle height adjustment unit offers users precise and reproducible height adjustements, a considerable reduction of risk of injury, a lower risk of damage to equipment, an always exact positioning of the doser as well as a reliable and stable execution.
The conversion kit contains an adjustment unit with position indicator, a spindle with adjusting nut, a ratchet wrench and mounting material.
ROVEMA offers a conversion kit for the cross sealing jaws which increases flexibility and reduces spare parts procurement costs. The sealing jaws, consisting of body and inserts, enable the exchange of the cooled down sealing faces within a few minutes. Whether the toothing is worn or a change to another toothing profile or seal width is necessary, the time-consuming adjustment work needed for a change of the complete jaw body will no longer be required.
The conversion kit consisting of 2 jaw bodies, 4 inserts, electric supply with accessories as well as a set of heating cartridges , temperature probes and insulating plates each guarantees more flexibility, less spare part costs as well as shorter changeover times.
The magazine feed belt in ROVEMA cartoning machines ensures a continuous feed of folding boxes into the magazine. The folding boxes are standing on edge and are usually kept in a vertical position by different devices like metal brackets or angle plates. The ROVEMA swivel plate for the magazine feed belt offers the best ease of use and functional security. The swivel plate is guided by a sliding rail and seated on the transport belt of the feed belt. Thus it moves safely alongside the pile of folding boxes. Moreover, the folding boxes can be handled in much easier way during the loading process thanks to the fixation of the swivle plate to the sliding rail. By a simple shifting of the swivel plate, refilled piles of folding boxes can be gathered and supported a stable way independent of their size.
The swivel plate offers users many benefits like an easier filling of the magazine feed belt as well as a facilitated handling of the piles of folding boxes. Furthermore, a higher process reliability can be achieved by using the swivel plate. It is suitable for all sizes of folding boxes.
The retrofit kit consists of a swivel plate with hinge and guide carriage as well as a guide rail according to the feed belt length. In addition, a dust protection for the guide rail and mounting material are included in the retrofit kit.
The constantly increasing diversity of shapes for boxes and transport packaging in combination with decreasing product batches requires frequent format changes on cartoning and final packaging machines. With the new semi-automatic format adjustment system, ROVEMA offers a lucrative alternative to the conventional manual adjustment of the numerous position indicators. The control unit of this format adjustment system can control up to 32 adjustment points at the machine. After choosing the desired program in the display of the control unit, LED lights start flashing on all the position indicators which have to be adjusted. Every position indicator recalls its individually pre-programmed setting value and transmits it to a cordless screwdriver via an infrared interface. The screwdriver automatically stops as soon as the setting value has reached the tolerance range.
The semi-automatic format adjustment offers users a considerable reduction of changeover time, a high reproducibility during adjustment work, format changes and fine tuning as well as an exact positioning of the adjustment points.
This again ensures a higher process reliability. The semi-automatic format adjustment enables the connection of up to 32 position indicators and offers up to 100 memory spaces for different formats.

Flexibility is the trump card in the brand-new stand-alone unit of the packaging machine manufacturer ROVEMA; the high-value ROVEMA stabilo seal and RoPack bags can be manufactured with its help independent of manufacturer on every continuously operating bagger.
The profitable function for manufacturing innovative bag forms thus no longer needs to be retrofitted on every machine. The completely autonomous system can be placed behind different baggers and operated as required without spending too much time. In this regards, the premium bag forms can generally be manufactured without a problem while maintaining format sizes and the round or oval format sets.
The stabilo seal stand-alone unit is equipped with its own control unit for flexible and independent use. Since there is no intervention in the bagger itself, the machines and thus the dropping height of the product remains unchanged, so that fragile products can continue to be filled. The unit is supplied complete with printer support, cutting and gluing system for film, protective cover with safety circuit and pneumatic packaging material mandrel. In addition, the format parts for sizes of stabilo seal or RoPack bags are also provided.
The packaging machine manufacturer ROVEMA presents an end-of-line machine with the new developed AC-Packer EF 2, in which the interests of ergonomy and hygiene were given special consideration besides packaging performance. Yet, the solid and robust machine is built to be especially space-saving, is ideally supplemented by innovative and efficient grouping systems and ensures cost-effective production with a performance op up to twelve American case cartons per minute depending on the product and carton size by its quick and reproducible format change. High automation is achieving along with an excellent price-performance ratio with the AC-Packer EF 2, which can be integrated into the entire packaging process.
The machine is especially operator-friendly due to the low, and thus ergonomic arrangement of the blank magazine. And since it designed such that it can be clearly inspected from all sides and easely accessed, it can be cleaned quickly and easely. Technically, ROVEMA consistently pursues its proven quality philosophy for end packaging with the AC-Packer EF 2. The complete straightening up, filling and sealing process takes place at only two stations. Common sources of jamming are thus reduced to a minimum and operational reliability clearly improved. Cut-outs are defined during the entire packaging process and safely positioned and retained in th stations. This optimal packaging cycle leads to geomatrically precise packaging. Product and packaging are protected, the entire packaging process works in a safe and controlled manner.
The flexibility of the machine doesn't come up short. Flexible grouping systems - cycled chain or belt feed - enable different position layouts. The quick format change is reproducible by application-specific parameters, adjusting spindles and format parts. Thus, downtimes are reduced and a cost-effective, efficient production process is guaranteed. Optional extension options like the try module or external head sealing enable other, additional functions, which are all operated in an absolutly safe manner with the process control P@ckControl from ROVEMA. Supervisory mechanisms and dynamic threshold values ensure that incorrect or meaningless parameters are not accepted. Moreover, the operator also has integrated online help with its convenient navigation via touch-screen whenever needed for support.
Packaging machinery manufacturer ROVEMA presents its new bagger series BVC in three different manufactured sizes. The new continuously working machine line is designed for maximum output, where, despite the high speeds, it implements the product recognition "sens&seal" and high quality sealing technology "premiumseal". Through this, very high machine efficiency is ensured with perfect bag quality. The machines can be cleaned quickly and easily since they have no hollow spaces, and even comply with high hygiene requirements. The BVC series is at the top of ROVEMA's product programme, which can be optimally configured for different applications.
The new bagger series includes three design sizes with the names BVC 180 for format sizes from 50 to 180mm, BVC 260 for format sizes from 50 to 260mm and BVC 400 for format sizes from 80 to 400 mm. The machines are thus convincing due to their speeds and sealing quality. BVC 180 fills up to 240 bags per minute and achieves brilliant sealing quality not least because of the very high sealing force of 6,000 Nm. The mid-sized machine achieves the same sealing force and 210 bags per minute, while the largest machine BVC 400 generates a real sealing force of 8,000Nm and can fill up to 150 bags per minute.
Good accessibility of all areas and simple cleaning were considered in particular besides high performance at the time of designing the entire series. Covers in the product area which can be removed without tools are examples of this aspect. Format change is also possible without tools. The machines are manufactured in painted steel, or complete in stainless steel including the cabinet. Rockwell control is also available besides ROVEMA P@ckControl. The valve unit is connected via IO link, and all manometers can be clearly read through inspection windows in the cabinet. A broad range of options supplements the elegant-looking yet robust baggers designed for continuous use.
"We are satisfying highly demanding customer wishes even better with the BVC series" says ROVEMA's sales manager Roland Kuhn convincingly." Besides high efficiency and bag quality, it will also enthus many costumers due to its clear design and good hygiene properties.!"
In practice, the periphery of a packaging machine also has to ensure a relaible and efficient production. As connecting elements, conveyer belts are of great importance but the bearings and the drive unite are sub ject to heavy wear. A replacement of these components, however, is always connected to an extended production stop and complicated installation work. An early installation of the retrofit kit avoids these disadvantages. The complete retrofit kit consists of a roller shaft with a support and a set of ball bearings, a drive shaft for the the gear motor, a coupling with adapter flange for the gearbox and the necessary mounting material.
Unlike Stabilo Seal at the tube, no increase in the level of the machine is required with the Stabilo Seal reel carrier unit, so the dropping height of the product remains constant and fragile products can still be packed gently. In addition, it is possible to realize the promotional Stabilo Seal bag shape at the machine while maintaining the bag cross section as well as the round format set with optimal filling tube diameter. This usually results in an increase in the production output of the machine. Installation and commissioning of the retrofit kit will be carried out on site by the competent ROVEMA servic team.
